Joakim Noah & Clippers
vs. Chicago Bulls
On Saturday, November 17th, 2007, a contingent
of San Diego Gator Club members embarked
on a road trip to Los Angeles after the football
viewing party at Players that saw the mighty
Gators beat up on Florida Atlantic University
59-20, the same score we beat Tennessee by
earlier in the season. The reason for the
road trip was to attend the Los Angeles Clippers
NBA Basketball game that evening, because
their opponent would be the Gators’ very
own Joakim Noah and his new team, the Chicago
Bulls. The San Diego faithful met at the
Grand Avenue Sports Bar, enjoyed refreshments,
and made some impromptu signs to display
in support of Joakim at the Staples Center
during the game.
The group of around a dozen San Diego Gators
joined the rest of the 17,535 fans in attendance
to watch a spirited game which included three
flagrant fouls and one technical foul. Unfortunately,
due to a lingering sprained left ankle Noah
has been nursing this season, he only played
two minutes, scored no points, and to rub
salt in the wound Security “Clippered” our
attempts to hold up our pro-Joakim and pro-Bulls
signs. Noah and the Bulls did leave the arena
with a 92-73 victory, however, and the SDGC
contingent had a great time in their VIP
seats with the great view, and went out to
further celebrate Gator Greatness after the
game.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for information
in the future for more great San Diego Gator
Club Events like this one!
